ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I was going home to my flat in Hyde Park flats and found this mattress split wide open on the stair-well. It looked a bit like a question mark and I wondered why it had been discarded so unceremoniously, so I kicked the feathers a few times and took some photographs. I soon found out that the mattress was infested with bed bugs and that was why it had been dumped. I have one vintage print of this image printed on the now legendary and no longer available Agfa Portriga Rapid paper which has a slightly creamy base. The print dates from 1979 and is in immaculate condition. Signed, titled and noted as Vintage on the reverse. Image size is 18.7 x 12.2 cms.

Born in 1955 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and could not wait to get away. Spent time after finishing an ignominious school career in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan Pakistan, India and Nepal. Then studied Photography at Sheffield Poly, starting in 1979. Did Teacher Training and taught for 1 year at a school in North London which was more than enough. Subsequently worked for Warner Brothers in a non photographic capacity and the BBC both Teaching and Photographing. I have recently returned to working with traditional, wet processes alongside digital. The images in my portfolio start in the 70's and go through to the present day.
