About The Artwork

A spiral is a quarter of an ellipse (between two adjacent vertices). The interest in such curves was largely due to the oval's four-point theorem, which states that a simple closed curve with continuous curvature consists of at least four spiral arcs. It is these definitions, with certain clarifications on convexity, strict / non-strict monotonicity, continuity and constancy of curvature, restrictions on the full rotation of the curve, that are used in applications from the field of computer-aided design. The main applications are related to the construction of high-speed roads, in particular, the construction of transition curves that provide a gradual change in curvature along the path.
