Limited edition of 1000 Camera Settings: F8 - 1min 40s – Fuji Velvia ISO50 35mm film. Background: Prior to taking any photographs I always research the location, I often arrive whilst it’s still dark so knowing exactly where I need to be to frame the image I have in mind is very important. For this shot I woke up around 3.20am in order to be in place ready to shoot by 5am allowing me about 30 minutes before twilight. It was a Saturday morning and I could see clouds in the night sky as I drove toward the city. Whilst setting up for the shot I was hoping something special would unfold to make the sacrifice of a lie-in worth the effort. No boats were out, the water was perfectly calm and the harbour was very still and peaceful, as the colours began to unfold and I was ready to shoot this beautiful, tranquil scene. I got lucky with the break on the horizon allowing the early morning light to come through and light the underneath of the clouds bringing out detail as well as casting a beautiful warm glow low on the horizon. As I clicked away I knew I was capturing something very special and just hoped I had all my settings correct to freeze what I was witnessing firsthand so I would be able to share this event. Prints are output onto metallic paper which provides the best reproduction quality available enabling the image to be presented in the highest possible standard with a brilliant high gloss metallic pearl finish.

Originally from Reading in the UK Stephen E-Moran currently resides in Sydney, Australia with his wife and two sons. His passion is to share the stunning and striking beauty of the world we co-exist in, using photography to inspire, awaken and remind people just how much beauty there is in the world. Stephen was born in 1975 and having started out using film many years ago continues to do so today along with digital photography. Despite the incredible advances of digital technology Stephen still enjoys using film as it maintains a special connection between photographer and scene being captured without the temptation to disrupt the moment by checking each result or continually amend technical components. 'Whether digital or film I like to keep the process simple and my focus on what's unfolding. Be prepared, pre-determine the settings required then just click when the moment feels right.'
