About The Artwork

There are three of the limited edition available at this time Nrs.3, 4 and 9 of 10. There is nothing I have found that is brighter in spring that the wild broom flower, the light reflected from this bloom creates an amazing glow in the simple Petzval lens, this added to the narrow depth of field and the unique bokeh, just shouts out of spring's promise of the years beginning. This image is part of a project I am undertaking to capture the essence of the seasons using a Petzval lens. The main aim is that the image should evoke a feeling of the season without relying on a dependency of sharpness, relying more on the natural image dynamics available from a lens that delivers a shallow depth of field, melting bokeh, and a glow to prominently illuminated elements. I'm offering this in two editions; a signed limited edition print of 10, and regular issued prints. The limited edition print is produced using archival paper. It is supplied unmounted. The Image size is 9" x 14" with an additional border at the bottom to accommodate the signature and details. The unlimited prints are offered in larger sizes.

Back in the 1980s I was a professional photographer, specialising in editorial, fashion and advertising, working mainly in medium and large format. During this period I contributed to leading publications and worked for a number of blue chip clients. Alas, the working briefs prescribed by the commercial world was far far away from the work I wanted to produce. This being so, I left photography behind me, not touching a camera for decades, and drifted into writing. Now, decades later a relatives request and writing has brought me back into the realm of creating photos - to a place where I would have been happier back in the day, able to pursue subjects that I like in a way that I like. …and hopefully in a manner that I hope that you like as well.
