Scratches of Gotland.
A series of 21 photographs taken during last early morning walk right before I left Visby and took the ferry to the mainland. Visby is a small medieval town on the largest Swedish island of Gotland. Scratches. It would be too prosaically simple if I say that the scratches are traces of a felt padding in an old Soviet film cassette that I accidentally found at a flea market, but that`s the truth. All the footage (landscapes) shot on Soviet 35mm film 25 years after “best before 1994".
As a photographer, I believe that scars adorn people's faces, random scratches on an old Soviet film adorn Swedish landscapes. Besides: “To be alive at all is to have scars ”, as John Steinbeck said.
Please note:
image of the large size is printed on Canson baryta paper,
image of the small size is printed on Hahnemühle paper.
Artwork is not framed. This is an example of how it could look framed.
