Sharecropper's Home-The Bootheel, MO Photograph - Limited Edition of 20

After a year in graduate school at U of Missouri, I remained in Columbia for the next 2 years. I grew to love that state back in the early 70's. People may have harbored their extreme views, but they kept them to themselves. Outwardly, the farmers, the butchers, the shopkeepers, and all the others I encountered were friendly, open, and generous in spirit..and things. [When I gave them photos, I got eggs, bacon, pork chops, and once, a side of Angus beef.] I once spent almost 2 weeks exploring the Boot Heel..the southeast corner of Missouri that looks like a..well you know. Very agricultural..lots of cotton. And lots of sharecroppers, even in 1975. I'd see a place like this and shoot it and then knock on the door. In this case, no one was home. And the storm clouds were added in post. Once again, as an art form, Photography does one thing no other art form does...The Artist gets to constantly relive the joy and adrenaline rush experienced when seeing and capturing the image; reliving it when downloading it in PS RAW; {or when the negative came out of the Fixer; and the print reached peak tonality in Dektol or Amidol} and rediscovering all the subtle levels of shades, shadows and messages..and in the end, being able to see and experience it in an altogether different and unique way.
