About The Artwork
Solheimajokull is a glacier tongue of Myrdalsjokull, the 4th largest glacier in Iceland. It is located 158km south of Reykjavík, 11.9km from Skógafoss and 31.8km from Black Sand Beach. It has a wealth of dramatic ice formations and the glacier consists of volcanic ash from Katla volcano as well as snow - this made the glacier pattern uniquely stripy. Unfortunately, this glacier has been retreating rapidly due to climate change.
