South of California (No Estacionarse) Photograph - Limited Edition of 10

The above image belongs to the series “South of California”. The photos for this series were all taken on the southern tip of California, mostly in San Diego County as well as the Tijuana area in Mexico. It is an homage to the lifestyle, the architecture, the colors as well as the unusually beautiful light that can be found in this part of the world. This particular photo taken in the mid 1990s shows the yellow door of a house/barn in Tijuana, Mexico. While being a student at the University of California, San Diego, I took -- alone or with friends -- many trips to San Diego's 'twin city' on the other side of the border to eat out, buy things that weren't easily available in California (like the wide variety of musical cds of Latin American bands and singers), get an inexpensive haircut or just enjoy an authentic Mexican Margarita. I came across this house by chance when strolling through a neighborhood of Tijuana that was some blocks away from the more touristic areas with its many shops, bars, and restaurants. Medium: Archival pigment print on UV-resistant, premium photo paper. Light-fast for more than 200 years. Each print has an integrated white border around the actual image for easy framing and is part of a limited edition series of 10 prints (plus 2 artist proofs), 8 of which are available on Saatchi Art. Signed and numbered on verso. Not mounted.
