About The Artwork

The unblinking gaze when there’s nothing left to say but it’s far from over. All effects created in-camera and in-situ. Not in photoshop. SERIES: I can’t see your eyes Eyes reveal so much. Truth. Evasion. Joy. Sorrow. Recessive alleles. Sexual attraction. When you can’t see them, you’re left guessing. I’m creating this series to stare into the eyes of feelings I’ve had when my gaze wasn’t met. Original photograph – output as a photo print sealed in matte acrylic glass for a gallery-quality look. The frameless finish puts all the emphasis on the image. It’s the ultimate contemporary statement and how I choose to display my pictures. It’s ready to hang, with aluminium rails fitted to the back. The matte acrylic glass means no glare or distracting reflections yet adds depth to the image and lets the colours sing. [Alternative, buy this original as a photo print - URL COMING] Image 16(h) x 24(w) inches This series of images is created from torn wrapping paper, found in the recycling bin. It caught the light and caught my eye - staring back at me - so I retrieved it. This shoot was done in twilight, using lights and controlling the focus - a challenge when any movement stirred the paper. The photo print is created by state-of-the-art laser exposure on Fuji Crystal DP II photo paper. This is mounted under 2mm thick matte acrylic, which is lightweight and shatterproof. The backing is robust 3mm aluminium Dibond, consisting of a black polyethylene core sandwiched between 2 aluminium sheets coated platinum-white. Permanently elastic silicone seals and protects. This product offers UV protection for long-lasting brilliance: guaranteed for 75 years. Delivery time - approximately 3 weeks. (This assumes it takes a few days for Saatchi Art to collect from me and deliver to you.) I use a world-class lab in Germany to produce my artworks. Their colourwork is exceptional, and they are the only people I trust to create a finished product to the exceptional standards expected by art collectors. I also check every piece before it is delivered to you by Saatchi Art. Orders take approx 2 weeks to reach me. Then Saatchi Art arranges for it to be delivered to you. Please check their information on delivery timescales for the full picture.

⚧️ I'm an abstract artist fascinated with capturing the inner colourscapes of emotion and experience. _____________________________________ To do this I find objects that people have discarded (too old, too ugly, unwanted, unloved) and transform them. _____________________________________ All the effects you see are created in-camera and in-situ - not in photoshop. ____________________________________ ____________________________________ NOTES FOR COLLECTORS ____________________________________ I have: An urge to show you the worlds you cannot see in everyday objects. ____________________________________ An obsession with expressing things we can’t see - emotional reactions, physical sensations, the identity we hold in our minds. ____________________________________ A wish that you take for yourself the feelings my artworks give you. ____________________________________ RECURRING THEMES _______________________________ The linear progression of time...the fight against it...the victories and defeats ____________________________________ The things we throw away - chances, objects, moments, relationships... ____________________________________ Private inner worlds - things that define us, often invisible and unshareable ____________________________________ Moments where you feel fully alive...vividly remembered forever ____________________________________ ME AND MY 7D - how we ‘paint’ together. My mind’s eye. My Canon camera. The two defining aspects of every single image I create. I have a sixth sense about the objects that will transform in front of my lens. All the effects you see in my artworks are done in-camera. (Not with software.) In this way, I am the same as a painter. ____________________________________ THE COLLISION OF STYLE, TECHNIQUES & THEMES As in life and emotion, there are moments of sharp focus in my abstracts, contrasting against the myriad thoughts and feelings thrust momentarily into the background. Controlled blur and movement create soft, textured areas and layers - hinting at what’s just beyond the immediate. Other images are pinpoint sharp - a precise f stop, a moment remembered with total clarity. A shock. A cruel word. A slammed door. ____________________________________ In some images, every pixel shows. Imperfections are preserved...because they are unique...part of the narrative...revealing of what’s gone before.
