About The Artwork

ATLANTA WEISS TULIPS EXPLOSION I. Limited edition 1 of 3 Original photo print under glossy acrylic glass mounted on aluminium dibond backing 120 x 80 cm (47,24 x 31,5 inch) How much power would you give a 3-day flower? Old Masters were fascinated by the power of this flower. It meant wealth, status and resources. In the time of early discovery of the Middle East tulips were brought by merchants to Europe as a rare wild mountain flower. Tulip bulbs were traded on special stock market and could achieve a price of a house. Artists were asked to paint them during their few days of bloom to eternalise owner's wealth for posterity. However, after countrywide fungal attack, and as soon as somebody figured out how to breed and multiply them in Europe, the tulip market crushed. Nowadays, they are a pure and colourful symbol of new life, spring and impermanence of life. I have my studio in German idyllic countryside and witnessing how seasons change brings a very intense and continuous inspiration here. In this case, I picked as many tulips as I could cary into my studio for Mother's Day. The photo session was dedicated to her. She is an artist, too, and understood too well why I wanted them to be eternalised for posterity first. How much power would you give a flower that only lasts for three days? Printed on premium quality photo paper Fuji Crystal DP II with 75-year brilliant colour. Photograph is sealed with permanently elastic silicone under crystal clear acrylic glass 1/16" (2 mm) thick. Photograph is mounted on robust aluminium dibond backing (3 mm). Ready to hang, wall mount included.
