This is a photograph inside and above the Fort Pitt Tunnel in Pittsburgh. Not accessible to the public, this vent system is responsible for sweeping up car emissions and filtering the air to ensure that there is no harmful buildup of vehicle byproducts in its 3,600 foot stretch. This shot was taken in the morning to allow for sun rays, and it serves as a reminder that art can be functional, and structures that are made to serve a specific purpose can also possess artistry.
