About The Artwork
“The ceramic teapot” from the Lights & Shadows series I photographed this collection of images, on particularly bright mornings, in the months of October and November 2020, during the pandemic: the amount of sun that came through my window and illuminated the objects on my table, inspired me. I used various objects that I found around the house, those with a particularly plastic shape or groups of objects that filled the frame with a pleasant texture. It is still life, but the real protagonists are not so much the objects of everyday life that I photographed, but the light and shadow of the object itself. Sometimes it is the shadow itself that reveals it, other times, the shadow behaves as a projection, an aspiration of the object to become something else. It is a game that enhances the etymological meaning of photography: from the Greek "photo"> light and "graphè"> writing; the full meaning is therefore light writing or, by extension, drawing with light. I later filtered the digital image with a "grunge" treatment that made the series varied in tones, with a "painterly" and warm look.

I’m Attilio Tripodi, I’m an art director freelance and I work for advertising, graphic design, packaging, publishing.
