“If we look at a glass closely enough we see the entire universe. There are the things of physics: the twisting liquid which evaporates depending on the wind and weather, the reflections in the glass, and our imaginations adds the atoms.” Inspired by the above words of Richard Feynman, quoted in The New Quantum Universe, this image belongs to a body of work titled “Glassiverse” that explores the poetic universe enclosed within Glass. Experimenting with different kinds and shapes of glass, light, reflections, motion and at times extreme inward observations one has often stumbled into a fluid, energetic and often a meditative state with this photographic artform.

With an interplay of light and shadows there is underlying movement and flow in her work that channelizes bursts of energy towards a sense of peace and tranquility. Her primary body of work transforms mundane objects with a strong element of intrigue to challenge first impressions. An alumnus from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, Sarika’s background in Microbiology and Biotechnology research followed by her work as a journalist and then as an entrepreneur and consultant in Healthcare and Life Sciences for over 25 years, has strongly influenced her love for macro photography with an inherent ability to visualize objects internally, up-close with an eye for detail and multi-layers.
