About The Artwork

Just over the bridge in South Carolina from Savannah Ga. is the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. It is teeming with wildlife, the alligators and the wading birds are abundant. I have been fortunate enough (actually its a lot of patience) to capture photos of the alligators catching. On this day however, prey and predator just kept a wary on each other. The Tri-colored Heron did catch a few fish while I watched. The alligator kept edging closer but had no chance of catching the bird. Limited edition prints come with a certificate of authenticity. This Limited Edition Print is printed on Fuji Crystal Archive Professional Paper. This paper was chosen specifically for this photograph because it is a True non-reflective matte paper that is great for skin tones, soft images, and black & whites. As a bonus, this Limited Edition Print comes mounted on 1/8" thick Masonite, so it is ready to be framed.

As a pre-teen and teen I was fortunate enough to work with the Savannah Science Museum on a Sea Turtle Tagging project, The Carreta Research Project, as well as numerous studies of reptiles and amphibians. This, along with having a family that always seemed to be outdoors, lead to my love of everything in nature and an appreciation of the beauty all around us. I began to take photography seriously in 1984 when I purchased my first 35mm camera, a Minolta X700. In 1985 I joined the Navy and was stationed in Sigonella Sicily, there I met up with a local photographer and we ended up sharing a studio. He did film processing and sold film and accessories, I used the back room for portraits and also sold some of my scenery shots from around the countryside and photographed the occasional wedding. After leaving Sicily in 1988 I still worked as a photographer as a side gig shooting weddings, sporting events and corporate functions. I still went out and spent time in nature shooting wildlife and scenery photos, selling a few "wall hangers" along the way. My work in the military and in the oilfield has taken me to over 50 countries. I was fortunate enough to able to spend time with my camera in most of these places. I have decided that I want to share my photography with a broader audience than I have so far, that is why I am partnering with Saatchi Art to showcase my work.
