About The Artwork

From the collection Sleeping Indian - California to New Mexico " When I went to New Mexico in 2014, there was a mountain known as “Sleeping Indian.” It took me a while to see it but when I looked at the shape of the mountain it really looked like a native American sleeping on his back covered in a blanket. It was such fun to see something like this in a landscape, like you would look at clouds and see objects in them. I also believe that a landscape absorbs the history or the life of the people who live there. Like stories or tales that the landscapes seems to tell you. " Fuji Flex Crystal Archive process and mounted on Aluminum with UV Protected Lamination and Wood Liners. No frame is necessary, the print is ready to be hung when received. Size listed is the actual print sizes, photographs do not have a border. Prints are signed and numbered by the photographer on the verso.

Photographer Ina Jungmann takes an art form known for faithfully capturing a moment in time and uses it instead to explore our fractured relationship with place, hope and memory. Fascinated by people’s ability to perceive place in terms of present, past, and future, Jungmann uses multiple exposures to create high-end art pieces that are textured, nuanced, and at times otherworldly. Her work has been widely exhibited in Los Angeles, Germany, Syria, and Poland. In Damascus only days before the outbreak of Syria’s civil war, Jungmann captured some of the final moments of normalcy and peace. She has also turned her lens to the Murphy Ranch, an abandoned WWII-era Nazi encampment in California’s Pacific Palisades. Educated at UCLA and the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle, Germany, she studied with acclaimed photographers James Welling and Rudolf Schäfer. She is honored to be mentored by Japan's Miyako Ichiuchi. Contact her at me[at]inajungmann.com.
