The year the world turned dayglo! - well, the King's Road, London, at least. This is my visual homage to the spirit of 1976 and the nascent Punk scene; it evokes the colours and textures of the clothes sold in Sex, the shop run by Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood in the King's Road, London. It is also reminiscent the DIY aesthetic of the fanzines of the period. I wanted to portray the vivid colours that were a feature of the Punk look in both clothes and graphics at this time, not just focussing on the black leather that later became a uniform for the scene. This was a time before the scene went overground and exploded into mainstream culture, and was a very individualistic movement.

My work is informed by emotional responses to colour and the figurative and abstract forms found in natural and urban settings. I have produced creative works for high profile museums and galleries including the V&A and the RA, London. Recent MA study in Art and Design has taken my practice in a typographic/pop-cultural direction. I will continue to develop the work through visual experimentation to produce art that communicates the artistic intention to the viewer in a visually compelling manner.
