Inspired by the Jordan 1, this handpainted woodblock print is informed by the "Bred" colorway. The image as a whole represents the way in which sneaker culture is embedded within the urban environment. The wearer of the sneaker is as much a part of the city as they are their own body. With graffiti written on their back, the image tells the story of the young urban male, taking a moment to tie their shoe as they navigate their way through the day. My work is done in a style that I call "Present Surrealism". My style aims to capture life in the modern city, a jungle that requires the individual to find their own path, survive against adversity and prosper through challenges. My work is almost always rooted in printmaking, a medium that I love and find to be meditative in the precision that is required to master it. This particular piece was painted by hand before being printed with a black layer over the hand painted color layer.
