About Coral Wonder: Coral reefs are actually colonies of colorful living beings, just like a city with many colorful minds. In close-up, some tiny coral polyps look weird and lifeless. However, as a whole, this oceanic cosmopolis plays a vital role in the tropical ecosystem. From this observation, I learned that I have to create simple modules that will interplay with each other to support a larger structure.

Indonesia
Melissa Sunjaya has received distinguished recognition for her entrepreneurial achievements as the founding artist of TULISAN–a label specializing in collectible artist-illustrated editions, handmade through sustainable methods in Jakarta. Through this community-based brand, Melissa has assembled a visionary guild of like-minded artisans and collectively manifested whimsical art projects based on her writings, illustrations, printmaking, painting, and designs. These works, inspired by Melissa’s take on Indonesia’s new generation, are titled THE NEW EAST INDIES. With an emphasis in contemporary anthropology, her comprehensive research has embraced trustworthy partnerships with diverse organizations, including PERMATA BANK – a notable financial institution which has become her major patron since 2016. In the spirit of eradicating unfair living standards, Melissa has also established three ongoing humanitarian programs for a non-profit refuge foundation for abandoned street children. Through the first triennium, her programs have raised over USD45,000 to benefit the organization’s mission in providing vital care to Jakarta’s most vulnerable children. She is currently the principal lecturer at DIMENSIONAL MORPHOLOGY, an educational center for heuristic problem-solving in visual arts.
