About The Artwork
Aristide Maillol gained world reknown as a Sculptor. He was an intimate friend of almost all of the French Impressionist painters. Despite his success , he was dissapointed not to have been recognized as a painter. I discovered that he also did a good number of Woodcut prints representing female nudes after sessions with his young model Dina. My prints are inspired from the photos I could dsicover. I hope to honor his work and the love he had for the young model Dina who inspired his last ten years

I immigrated to the South Of France in 1988 just after graduating with a Diploma in Fine Arts. I had a studio in Grasse, the perfume capitol of the world. In 1990 My wife and I restaured an old farm house near the Pyrenees. We adopted two boys and I continued with my thematic research concerning the contents of my paintings, almost always trying to find a pictorial language to express different concepts I became familiar with trough my readings. My printmaking subjects are much autobiographical.
