A pool with (fig)leaves and droplets (tears) that reflect your image once you bend over.Do not bend too deep for you will end up like the unfortunate Narcissus who used the pool as a mirror and fell in love with his own immage.

A whole world is hidden behind the abstract images in the work of Caroline Koenders. Her prints may seem just a collection of black dots or circles, but in essence those forms create a silent world one wants to live in. An artist looking for eternity and finding it nearby. Behind black hides white, behind darkness, light. The mezzotint is a graphic technique that works in reverse: one starts from black. The image looms up from the dark copperplate after endlessly scratching and scraping it. This way the artist creates a beautiful velvety print.
