About The Artwork

"Hear My Plea" 30" x 40" - Giclee Print on Canvas, arrives ready to hang. Limited edition dance paintings, inspired by Alvin Ailey’s ballet “Revelations”. It illustrates the history, traditions, faith, and beliefs of the African American culture while portraying the journey from slavery to freedom through dance, spirituals, gospels, and blues music. In this painting, the dancers stretch their arms upwards, it represents reaching for God. The paintings are re-created on canvas using a very fine method, called Giclee. Each painting is custom made as orders are received. All giclee re-creations are hand-signed and numbered. They arrive ready to hang. The artist will apply some hand painting to the canvas, to enhance the image and add to its individuality.

I am a contemporary abstract artist from Pittsburgh, PA. I started exhibiting professionally in 1958 when I was accepted into the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. This started a long career of exhibiting my work through the United States and Europe. As a member of the Associated Artists, I received many awards including a Carnegie Museum of Art purchase award for their permanent collection. Many corporations have acquired my work. The Museum included my painting in a show entitled “Pittsburgh Corporations Collect”. In the 1970s I had a one-person show at the Carnegie Museum of Art. My paintings were included in the Bicentennial Exhibition, “Americans in Paris”, Paris, France. I also showed my work with the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh in Dunferline Scotland to honor Andrew Carnegie at his birthplace.
