My training at the Ruskin School of Art was classical, drawing from life and still-life. I have always preferred painting from nature and still life. My hope is that painting from nature and figurative work will always survive and evolve, as I am concerned that drawing has been neglected in art schools in recent years. Due to family responsibilities I have always worked on a smaller scale at home and in nearby landscapes. My favourite painters of the past are Cezanne, Monet, Kandinsky, Braque and Chagall. Currently I admire Tracey Emin for her drawings & courage as well as Wei Wei for his amazing originality.
