This screenprinting is the Melancholy sculpture drawing. This is the way Jose Ignacio Alvarado begins its sculptures.

With this artwork Alvarado wants the viewer to feel deep emotions.

It is made on soft cotton paper with a very bright green ink. I could spend hours looking at this piece.

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1951. I am an architect and professor of Innovative Sculpture at University Lisandro Alvarado. During my 35 years career I´ve been a professor at different National Universities, columnist at the Los Andes press and wrote the book “Architecture for All” (Arquitectura para todos) published in 1984. However my main characteristic has always been my social character combined with a strong desire to understand my surroundings, and that has led me work on numerous projects which benefit society. These projects have benefited institutions that take care of children with Down Syndrome and helped to rehabilitate impoverished neighborhoods. I have also taken part in Ecological Projects, at Zoo’s and Botanical Parks. I In my most recent stage as a designer, uses sculpture as a free and sublime way to express myself as an artist. I create my sculptures out of a metal ribbon incorporating the space around the sculpture into the piece. The dance of the ribbon in the air creates a flowing figure which when combined with color creates a spiritual pleasure for those who look upon it. My artwork has been exhibit in Miami, Spectrum Art Fair, Texas, Caracas, Margarita, Aruba. My work had been sold in many auctions and all around the world. I exhibit a large-scale sculpture installed in The Square Gran Colombia, Caracas, Venezuela. I can proudly say this a city sightseeing visited for many and is a favorite location for social media influencers.
