My art is predominately made on computer by using photographic elements which are mixed, layered and manipulated digitally to form imaginary abstracted landscapes...but not only landscapes! The thing I love about this process, is that I can revisit my ever growing folio of digital artworks whose elements I can then re-manipulate and layer in a manner similar to collage ( only digitally ) to create new pieces... I consider these to be like family members of the original source image (s). It's a very circular way of creating. Paul F.

My art journey began in high school in the mid 70’s. I had a great art teacher that let me ( and my best friend ) make art in the art room during lunch. It was always my best subject, and in year 10 I was selected along with my friend we were the only 2 to go into the local regional high school art perspective. Wanting to continue doing something involving art after school I enrolled at college and did a 3 year diploma in Graphic Design, and worked briefly in Graphics. I took night classes in Silk Screen Printing and my lecturer, a well respected West Australian artist convinced me to return to study Fine Art. I graduated from Edith Cowan University in 1991. Following uni I briefly painted murals, but really focused on being a professional artist. I’ve had my work shown in the Art Gallery of WA. Been in multiple group shows and competitions, had 2 solo exhibitions and won several awards. Today my work has morphed into a digital medium that i find very liberating, even though I use it in a more traditional or recognisable way. I know many who see my art think it’s been painted, even though it hasn’t. So to end.... You’ll find my art can be pretty eclectic as I draw from my graphics background, which also included photography and printmaking, to fine arts where I majored in painting and figure drawing. Add in a love of architecture, pattern and textiles and you can see why my art is like it is....which just by the way I call Pixelism. Paul?
