About The Artwork

Image "No.2" is a separate and unique edition of one of the eight images from Sori's lithographic suite of lithographs plus poems entitled, "The Eleventh Book of the Shrimad Bhagavata" The artist was inspired by these beautiful poems written by Lord Vyasa found as one of Hinduism's eighteen great Puranas (stories). Sorí says: “I read these ancient scriptural poems during a year retreat in an ashram in India and knew I had so much to learn from them. I carried these metaphysical stanzas in my wallet thinking that one day I would translate them into Spanish to share their teachings with many. Six years later, after reading the poems, again and again, 8 images were spontaneously drawn onto the lithographic stone. I was in awe. I never expected this type of translation!” For more of Sori’s artwork and art vitae, please visit www.susanasori.com Specifics: This image was drawn on limestone by the artist and printed on Beige-colored Fabriano acid-free paper at the Printmaking Workshop in New York NY, under the artist's supervision. Each image of this edition of 15 was thereafter hand-colored by the artist with Prismacolor pencils. ---- SORI says: "The essence of art and of living is to be so completely present that you can taste timelessness." "I bring to my art my personal journey and direct experience of the connection between Art, Spirit, and Healing." ---- Anne Barclay Morgan, SCULPTURE International, Art Review, Vol. 7, No. 3, pp.32-33 writes: "In an age in which the work of many artists depicts darkness, Susana Sori's sculpture is the embodiment of light and energy… Sorí stresses that all life is in motion…Her work shows craftsmanship, but beyond that, it expresses energy and ethereal forces that span cultural barriers.” ---- ROBERT SINDELIR, Art Historian writes: "The drawings embody the energy that created them, but they are simultaneously essential symbols for a kind of 'physiochemical energy, and 'portraits' of the energy itself. The science is a medieval one, not unlike alchemy." ---- THOMAS SANCHEZ, Painter says: "I consider the work of Susana Sorí, metaphysician and esoteric artist, excellent in its expression of a truly unique theme: energy in movement… especially unique within the sculptural world and expressed with great mastery. Susana is concerned with the action of Creative Energy…This theme in sculpture is a great achievement won by her alone.” ---- Giulio V. BLANC, Art Historian 1920-1995, writes: “As an artist, Susana Sorí explores things that will perhaps one day be understood through the laws of physics but can be understood now by all those with the serenity, openness and selflessness to see inside themselves and everything around them.”
