Printmaking, Paper on Paper

This work was painted with a stylus, all brushwork - no computer tricks! Each print pulled by the artist. The subject is a twist on the traditional 'bowl of fruit' theme. The vegetables are all ageing but refuse to lie down on the chopping block. Instead they play with defying gravity and the laws of physics.

Australia
I suppose I might be classified as a re-emerging, late career artist. I took a detour into multimedia thirty years ago and have brought some of those skills back into the Studio, where I am now settling into printmaking and painting once again. In the seventies I was inspired by study of global mythology and the Western traditions including the works of Jung on alchemy and symbols. This led to decades of Eastern practices that focus on the nature of the mind and Consciousness. In the early sixties I was a working musician with the Red Onion Jazz Band and a founding member of The Loved Ones who are regarded as one of Australia’s iconic rhythm & blues bands and were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2010. I now play an Indian harmonium as accompaniment to Vedic mantra practices.
