When the Bank of England announced their intention to remove the image of Elizabeth Fry from the £5 note, the only one of four bank notes to show a woman, I signed the online petition started by the feminist activist and journalist, Caroline Criado-Perez. But I wanted to do more. The Bank of England have strict criteria for who can be shown and with these rules in mind, I started to think about who I would add. The above are my Notable Women. The £20 note shows a portrait of British chemist, Rosalind Franklin (1920 - 1958), who was instrumental in the understanding of DNA. Her male colleagues were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. This is part of a set comprising of three British Bank notes; £10, £20 & £50 and the price is for the set.
