About The Artwork

Printed on 20" x 24" archival paper, this is a signed, limited-edition giclée print of my original painting, Quanah Parker. The son of a Comanche war chief and Cynthia Parker, Quanah Parker was instrumental in founding the Native American Church, a peyote-based religion popular in the United States. Dressed in traditional Comanche clothing, Quanah is shown holding a gourd-rattle and an eagle-feather ceremonial fan. The shamanic figures depicted in the background are based on world-famous pre-historic rock art paintings discovered in caves located along the Pecos River near the Texas-Mexico border.

Timothy White is a self-taught artist who specializes in depicting shamanic and entheogenic themes in a magical realism style. Born and raised in India, he has lived in California and Oregon for the last forty years, where he founded and edited a small magazine, "Shaman's Drum," which documented shamanic traditions around the world. He began painting illustrations for the magazine, and he launched a career in painting after retiring.
