About The Artwork

Portrait of the Five Deeps Expedition DSV submersible 'The Limiting Factor'. Designed by Triton Submarines the Triton 36000/2 was designed and created for the explorer Victor Vescovo. Victor successfully completed the Five Deeps Expedition in August 2019 after diving to the bottom of the deepest points of all five of the world's oceans. A major historic accomplishment. The world’s first two-person, titanium-hulled submersible fully tested to 120% of full ocean depth (FOD) and commercially certified for thousands of dives. The limiting Factor is accompanied by the 68 meter DSSV (Deep Submersible Support Vessel) Pressure Drop, a trio of advanced FOD-capable seafloor landers as well as an FOD-capable echo sounder and multi-beam sonar capable of mapping the sea floor. 1/25 was exhibited at the Royal Geographical Society, London September 2019 Signed limited edition of 25 in dark Prussian blue. Due to the nature of this printing process each one is unique with variations in the print. These images are still drying and will be ready to despatch at the end of October. An original unframed linocut print. The lino is hand carved, inked and printed from the block by the artist. Each work is signed, titled and numbered by the artist. Through painting & printing I create bold figurative portraits. I also depict creatures & objects that we humanize & value such as ships & submersibles. How I portray the subject reflects my observations & relationship with that person or object. The work guides the viewer, to see details or the beauty of a moment. It is emotional, drawn on experiences & observations developed from my photography, conversations & travel as an expedition artist. Inspired by the mix of science & art my work is often graphic & has roots in historical advocacy such as Futurism or the promotion of ideas.
