Fine Art Gicleé print using pigmented inks on Hahnemuhle German Etching paper 310 gr. 40 x 40 cm / 15,7 x 15,7 inches (without frame). Framed with passepartout, methacrylate and black wooden frame. Ready to hang. Frame: 43 x 43 cm / 16,9 x 16,9 inches. Original signature on the back. This artwork is part of “The Transformation of Matter” series which has a woman as the protagonist of a story in which she enters the unconscious through dreams. This is the first instance she experiences and it’s related to the creation myth. Here, the snake biting its own tail, the ouroboros, is the matrix of all existence. This is a universal symbol that represents the cyclical nature of all things, time and the continuity of life. In alchemy it is presented as the beginning of the Great Work, the Opus Magnum. It also symbolizes the circular nature of the alchemist's work that unites opposites: the conscious and the unconscious, thus showing the duality present in everything.

I'm a Peruvian artist based in Malaga, Spain. When my body of work is appreciated as a whole, it is possible to realize that despite the different topics covered and the different techniques and media used (oils, charcoal, graphite, pastel chalks, ink, acrylics) there is a common factor that is realistic representation of images. This being quite obvious in my early works of social realism, the realist treatment in surrealist paintings as well as in mythical-symbolic works becomes an essential tool to help these subjects get out of an abstract world and thus gain legitimation as something real that exists. On the other hand, the image of the woman has a symbolic meaning. She is the link between the conscious world and the inner world of the unconscious both in surrealist works and in portraits immersed in darkness. The latter, like the other portraits in general, are projections in which archetypal ideas of psychic entities are released, that is, they are symbolic portraits.
