I made this artwork by creating a 2D drawing from an artwork, that I modelled in 3D. I found out, that it´s very exciting to put these perspectives into real life objects. So I laser cutted wood, spray painted, checked colour combinations, and finally arranged everything in a pretty accurate handmade process. I hope the viewer will see this piece as a modern object of art. One build piece of a random 3d geometry of an artist. I hope people will be encouraged, to check different views and light sources for the object. There will be interesting overlaying shadows. The medium wood is for me the only one I am currently working with. On one hand it is absolutely timeless. On the other hand it gives me opportunity to add my graffiti influence in my sculpture

Germany
Jan Weissenfeldt is a Sculptor and Designer, born 1981 in Marburg (Germany). In 2010 graduated from University of Kassel, master´s degree in architecture (Design Research). His favourite materials are wood, paper and plexi glass. Weissenfeldt´s style reflect his background in streetart, combined with a modern technological approach. Expressing love for geometry, shadows and gaps are the main focus in his recent works. By using modern production technics (as laser cutting) and combining it with classical crafts (like painting) his aim is to create a new form of contemporary art. Somewhere between perfection and human impulsivity. Perfections provided by computer and machine, will always be broken by his touch and spontaneous arrangement of pieces. Resulting in artworks that are somewhere in between perfect and human. That is a summary, as short as possible. Feel free to ask me anything.
