About The Artwork

This handcrafted ceramic vase, brought to form through the traditional coil-building technique, stands as a testament to originality. It is an exclusive, one-of-a-kind artifact. The vase's surface, predominantly matte, is artfully interrupted by areas where a subtle gloss emerges, creating an intriguing interplay of finishes. Such thoughtful application of glaze adds to the tactile sensation and enriches the visual allure of the piece. Born from visions of fantastical worlds, the design of the vase paints mental images of otherworldly landscapes. Its organic contours invite observers to journey across the divide between reality and imagination, establishing it as a compelling statement piece for any environment.

My artistic journey converges at the intersection of the abstract and the figurative, bridging an essential gap between the seen and the felt. I create using a versatile palette of mediums including painting and digital art, while also venturing into the tangible, earthy world of ceramics. My art becomes a multilingual conversation about people, places, and objects, encapsulating not only their physical essence but also the subjective lens of my own emotional response. Color and form serve as my fundamental tools, shaping the dialogue of my work and molding the emotional ambiance of each piece. I harness these elements to explore my internal landscape, each artwork becoming a mirror of my personal feelings, a reflection of self presented for shared experience. Over the years, I have found inspiration and guidance in the principles of Japanese aesthetics, namely Wabi-sabi, Shibui, and Geidō. These concepts, which I've honed through practices such as Japanese Calligraphy, Bonsai, and Iaido, shape my artistic process, infusing each creation with an essence of tranquility and refined simplicity. The lineage of my work traces back to the influences of the Abstract Expressionism, Matterism, and Color Field movements. The echoes of artists like Antoni Tàpies, Barnett Newman, Jean Fautrier, Paul Klee, and Mark Rothko ripple through my pieces, adding depth to my distinct voice. My art is also an homage to the architectural aesthetics that have left their mark on me. From the innovative Modernist structures of the 1950s and 1960s in Mexico City by Luis Barragán and Juan O’Gorman, to the timeless allure of colonial and contemporary architecture in Mexico City and Oaxaca, their influence permeates my work. In the same breath, I draw from the minimalist yet profound designs of Japanese architect Tadao Ando. My art is a journey of exploration and introspection. It is a dialogue between abstract emotion and tangible reality, an amalgamation of influences that shape and refine my unique artistic language. Each piece is not merely a reflection of the world, but an intimate revelation of how I perceive and feel it.
