Since 2003, Roos and Chris Leddy have formed the international artist duo Roos&Chris. Chris was born in 1975 in Voitsberg, a city in eastern Austria. When he was five years old, he moved with his parents and brother to Tirol, where he spent his childhood in the wonderful village of Westendorf in the mountains surrounded by pine trees. As a child, he was already a true nature lover and he enjoyed roaming the woods, building tree houses and swimming in ice-cold mountain brooks. After secondary school, he decided to study architecture at a higher vocational level. However, when nearing the end of his studies, he realised that the theoretical part failed to hold his interest and he noticed that it did not suffice as a creative outlet. Thus, Chris decided to move to Spain to work there for a while and to look for the right course for his life. After living in Spain for four years, he still had not found what he was looking for, resulting in his move back to his home town where he met Roos in the winter of 2000... Roos was born in 1974 in Nijmegen (the Netherlands) and grew up in the picturesque stronghold of Heusden, where she had a very happy childhood with her parents, brother and sister. She comes from a very creative family: her father is an actor, her mother a painter, her brother an art director and her sister an actress. Creativity truly is in her blood and her parents have always stimulated her to always follow her heart. After secondary school, Roos travelled through Asia for four years from which she gained a lot of inspiration. This made her decide to go back to the Netherlands and study at the art academy in order to learn to transform all this inspiration into sculptures and photography. She opted for ceramics as she could still learn a real craft in this department and because she really wanted to start making large sculptures. During her study, two friends persuaded her to go skiing in Austria for the first time in her life. After two weeks in the mountains, she met Chris and there was instant chemistry. So when Roos had to go back to the Netherlands for her study, Chris spontaneously decided to join her. While Roos was away to the academy the whole day, Chris, out of boredom, grabbed a block of clay from Roos' mother's workshop and got to work. However, when Roos came home at the end of the day, Chris looked up in surprise: he had completely lost track of time and had even forgot to eat or drink something...
