Copper Ledges Sculpture

Copper Ledges, the first piece in a series of four inspired by the Red Rocks of Sedona, Arizona. This series emerged from a deeply personal journey, prompted by my desire to reconnect with myself after ending a toxic eight-year relationship. Venturing westward, I sought solace in the mesmerizing beauty of Sedona, hoping to find inner peace and release. Guided by a local geologist, I embarked on a free climb to a breathtaking 600-foot ledge. As I ascended, an unexpected mix of anticipation and trepidation filled my being. The climb mirrored the emotional hurdles I faced in detaching myself from a long-term lover and I unknowingly at the time could not comprehend what transformation awaited me at the top.The vastness of the canyon, a silent testimony to the passage of time. The air whispered stories of ancient wisdom carried by the breeze. In that moment, the world seemed to hold its breath, granting me an intimate audience with its serene stillness for a full hour of still unplanned mediation. Something I have never experienced before and have not been able to recreate. Copper Ledges encapsulates the essence of that transformative experience. The warm hues of the copper evoke the fiery energy of the sun, casting a radiant glow enhanced by the other neutral tones. The layers of paint intertwine, exemplifying the intricacies of my emotional journey—tangled yet harmonious—blended yet blurred. The color palette is only enhanced by the process of forming the sculptural portion of Copper Arch. Through physical force of bending plexiglass into its final form, the act itself serves as a release. This piece stands as a testament to the power of introspection, the beauty of letting go, and the possibility of finding solace in the unlikeliest of places.
