Art Description

Sculpture: Metal on Steel.

Father, whilst presented as a sculpture for gallery display and end product for all to see, Father goes beyond that is merely presented here.

Father is and was an action started in 2010 with a found typewriter. This style of typewriter having great significance when dealing with my Father, his incessant typing and writing of plays, but also significant to all of us and our shared technological history.

This typewriter, P88E404995OU, was first dismembered and the destruction process started as a private action documented for later presentation. Then later the final hammer fell during a performance, during an exhibition.

You can watch the film on Vimeo, http://vimeo.com/22905221

Father is however, more than any other one thing, my reaction to myself as a Father.

Father will continue to decay and fade away as all Fathers do

Keywords: pain, action, performance, disintegration, father
