On one of my nature walks I ripped my favourite lace skirt - at first I wanted to repair it but then thought better of it - I ripped it even more and used it as a foundation for this piece. Together with a sheer fabric garment as a foundation, I used a variety of materials such as vintage fabrics, beads, buttons, sequins, ribbons, etc to explore a theme of free will. The idea of free will liberates my soul and expands indefinitely my creative universe. It serves as a source of endless energy and creative exploration. Joy and fun are cultivated in the Garden of Free Will - please come and play here. Canvas pieces, a rice sack and a pillowcase were added, piece by piece, to this artwork, all machine-sewn together. Hand-stitched are floral and abstract fabric elements, some shapes are printed with flowers from my garden, some bead embroidery added to painted surfaces. Painted/printed elements sprayed for protection with non-gloss acrylic spray. Paper bead wire construction is somewhat flexible and can be bent into different shapes. This artwork uses pushpins, but you may use other anchors/nails to hang this piece. This artwork is lightweight (4 pounds) and will be shipped folded in bubblewrap layers, in between sturdy foam board pieces, and packed in a cardboard box.

Poetry, music, rebellion, femininity, humour and wonder of my world reveal themselves in images, both soft and hard, always mysterious, always in layers of meaning. My stories emerge like flowers opening up their petals, one at a time, as I try to bring to light all the facets of a certain moment in time, of a beautiful memory. But in the end, or in the beginning, it's all about love. I explore painting as a connection to our human vulnerability, of which love is its ultimate manifestation. https://www.instagram.com/gone_with_chinook/
