About The Artwork
This giant dragonfly has a wing span of nearly a meter. Iridescent pigment impregnated resin was poured over reclaimed plastic (PVC and acrylic) to create the body and the wings. The dragonfly is held together with stainless steel nuts and bolts and Meccano connecting plates and struts. The eyes are made from recycled Christmas baubles. This is a commissioned piece and the photographs are of the dragonfly after a year of display in the client's UK garden (to show the robustness of the design). The special feature of this sculpture must be those transparent wings showing the vein supporting structure.
