ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is the bottom part of a 50 foot tall tree that I cut down in Deer Isle, Maine -- my first! (It was dying). I normally cut into my logs but this one had a natural twist to it that I decided to enhance. As I started, I realized that it had many colors and beautiful knots. So this is an exception to my normal way of working: inspired by the tree itself. It is super smooth to the touch, so I know people will want to caress it and study its grain closely. In short, viewers will relate to it on a very close level.
