About The Artwork

El Duelo is a series of small-format lost-wax bronze sculptures, as well as three medium-format canvases made in mixed media. Sculpture and painting suggest the fragility of existence. The figure and the line are taken as a reference that expresses moments of existential weakness and vital disorientation. At the same time, the material of the work -bronze, paint, and fabric- are combined in an emancipatory space where the being is liberated. This piece was born in 2021, it is entitled: La Melancolía

I live and work in Mexico City. I think art is essentially a mystery. Art is a means to explore the sense of life, our mere existence in a complex world. As a sculptor, I intend to investigate the human body and its links with symbolic space. I intend to take a closer look at the intimate geometry at the boundary between the human body and the sense of life. Solitude and disappointment, but also hope and healing of the self are the elements of my search.
