Fight Club I & Signed 20 Edition/3rd. Made by adding small touches of silver on bronze was kept in its raw form. Heat, chemical interaction, and tiny touches of silver created textures of black, turquoise, red, and gold on raw bronze. Please see attached video as an example of the process. ( for more preparation videos please see Instagram: @duyguugurstudio page.) I especially left the turquoise color because it represents the Turks in the sculpture series named Anatolia. Turquoise is a blue/green color, based on the gem of the same name. The word turquoise comes from the French for "Turkish", as the gem was originally imported from Turkey. Anatolia-Turkey is the point where East and West intersect. I describe myself and my art in the same way. Like Anatolia, I am the person where East and West intersect. I was born and grew up in Turkey. I lived in London for 5 years and completed my masters degree, I returned to Istanbul after. Fight Club Series Inspiration Story: ‘’We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.’’ Fight Club Warrior series for anyone who realizes that the Lottery will not come out anymore, who understands that she/he cannot be a superstar and who wakes up from dreams, does not expect miracles and struggles to build her/his life. To live, one must first awaken from dreams.
