Monarch Butterfly Landing Sculpture

While spending 20 years on a 300-acre farm in the mid-Missouri countryside, I was fortunate enough to see and experience the wonder of nature every day. Watching deer and turkey wander the fields and seeing all manner of birds, insects, wildflowers and more gave me an appreciation I will always have with me. This monarch butterfly is just one of many I saw and loved over the years. Being able to bring her to life in glass is a joy for me. This piece was created with two layers of 6” x 6” glass painted with enamel paint that is made especially for glass work and can withstand the heat of the kiln. The bottom glass shows the greenery and the flower while the top glass shows the butterfly sitting gingerly on the flower. The two layers were fused into one piece after both were painted. The art is attached to the glass of the picture frame and a complimentary color of specialty paper is under the frame glass. The frame is wired and ready for hanging.
