Nature's Hold Sculpture

“Nature’s Hold” is from the "Stitched Series" Collection. A hand crafted, one-of-a-kind sculptural series By Anna M. White "Nature" refers to the physical world and the natural phenomena that control that world. “Nature’s Hold” references the idea of the phenomena of the work itself. The shaping, cutting, and re-positioning of the clay is the artist's way of manipulating the natural product of the earth and holding it to create her vision. The "Stitched Series" challenges our daily interaction with clay by bringing new forms out of those we recognize, using an original technique that has clay doing things that have not been done before, and with detail that pulls the viewer in closer to these vessels of sculpture. Oxidation slow fire to 2280 F with an end hold. Hand-altered, wheel-thrown form with individually extruded details using the different clay bodies developed. Crystal-clear glaze developed specifically for the work, allowing the color to emanate directly from the clay.
