About The Artwork

Noor is a bas relief that is part of a larger series. This body of work is about finding the light and transforming as a human being. Noor literally means light in Arabic. The master for this relief was made in wood which was later casted in a mold to create pieces of resin. The resin pieces have a natural white colour and look and feel like ceramics. Although the figure of the woman falls of the round shape it's central placing in the middle gives it a very distinct focus, a concentration of energy. As an artist I have always been intrigued by bas reliefs. This work compliments my other work of drawings and paintings in a way that it all together creates a small universe that expresses how I see the world around us as man artist. Especially this series of works is about transforming, which we do when we struggle in life and come to learn things about ourselves and others.
