Raging Tiger Sculpture

I have always had a soft spot for domestic cats. I learned to do glass powder art using cats as my subject and then I was drawn to try my hand at the bigger jungle-variety of cats. You will find several of these cats in my art collection. This piece consists of one layer of 9” x 9” transparent glass onto which I sifted several layers of glass powders. I continued to create layer after layer of powder on this sheet, firing between each application, until I achieved the tiger look I wanted. Then I full fused the tiger to a layer of 9" x 9" opal pattern glass that enhanced the emotion of the raging tiger. Following the full fuse, I added more powder to give the piece extra texture and I also added some white enamel paint for the whiskers. This piece took a total of 7 kiln firings to complete. The art is attached to the glass of the picture frame. A special white paper is under the frame glass. The frame is wired and ready for hanging.
