The crescent shape is just one of the Moon's naturally-occurring phases.Phases only occur due to the geometry involved in a 3-body system between the Sun, Moon and Earth. It's all about viewing angles. The light is red, for the same reason that the sunrise and sunset are red.Three crescent moon shapes, are built as three magical crescent shapes in fiberglass.
