Rusty City Map 20 Sculpture

Rusted piece of steel : All my artwork is inspired by corroded boats,rusted walls, old industrial buildings, rundown factories and seascapes. I have a thing for rusty looks, old boats, old doors, old tools…. Is it because rust can make things more vulnerable ? For me corrosion on objects left by the weather is like time has cast its own shadow. I let pieces of steel sit outside so acid rain, air, snow and the sun slowly rust them as the weeks go by. Only when I like the results of this process, when the reddish and yellowish colors appear, when I see red, brown or orange flaking or pitting on the steel surface, do I intervene to stop it or interact with it. I then start to work on these rusty pieces of metal by sublimating the rustic appearance… knowing that the beauty of nature won’t never be matched. I hope these artworks bring you as much emotions as it did to me when I created them.
