About The Artwork

see no evil hear no evil speak no evil It is believed that Buddhist monks brought the expression from India to Japan by way of China around the 8th century. In Japan, it is typically depicted by three monkeys -- one covering its eyes, the next covering its ears and the third its mouth --because of the pun on zaru (an archaic suffix used to negate a verb) which sounds very similar to the Japanese for monkey.

By the 17th century, a group of three monkeys had become a popular depiction on Japanese Buddhist temples. The most famous is found on the third panel of an eight-panel sculpture on the Sacred Stable at the Toshogu Shrine in Nikko (about 150 km north of Tokyo), which was built in 1617.

Sometimes, a fourth monkey is shown either crossing its arms or covering its genitals, which represents "sezaru" (do no evil). This aligns with the quote attributed to Confucius: “Look not at what is contrary to propriety; listen not to what is contrary to propriety; speak not what is contrary to propriety; make no movement which is contrary to propriety” (Analects of Confucius). this works is a representation of that but remodeled. instead of monkeys these pieces are made with human faces.

Am a sculptor who deals with wood and metal combination (assemblage) to create a sculptures. My philosophy about my works is TOGETHERNESS. Togetherness because when people come together to help each other, something beautiful is always created. Because of this, I decided to use two different materials (wood and metal) to create sculptures. This two mediums has nothing in common and yet I combine them to create sculptures. I think about quality conscious, I play well with others, self-motivated and hardworking. When producing a piece I make sure that all my concentration is on that piece so that it will come out well. Sometimes I ask for opinions on the piece of producing and I make sure that whatever idea or advice I receive I consider it. When friends comes to me about ideas and advice I also do my best not to disappoint them. Distinctively, I sometimes think about people needs before my own and time consciousness, professionalism is something I do not play with.
