About The Artwork

"Shaman in yellow" - the surrealistic mask by Jaun García Nativo. In his works Garcia tries to conserve history of almost perished Andean tribes and pass by sacred culture of his ancestors to future generations. He oppose himself to "meaningless" progress and calls to respect and remember our close bonds with nature. This mask incorporates yalte wood, natural mineral pigments, stone, resin, aluminium incrustation. The symbolism of a mask is taken from history, tradition and archeological findings of pre-colombian artifacts. Works of Nativo are exhibited in Ecuadorian museums and form a part of private collections in Spain, Bulgary, Canada and United States.
