This bust to Sigismund II Augustus, the first ruler of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and the last male monarch from the Jagiellonian dynasty, is a scale model of the monumental project. The full-size sculpture was installed in Pasvalys, Lithuania, in 2019. Stylistically, the work corresponds to the epoque of his rule, building the bridge between the viewer and the past. Laconic pedestal balances the splendid bust, so that the whole work doesn't become a non-critical mimicry of Renaissance. The whole idea lies in unobtrusive bringing of significant historical memory into private space and every-day life, so that people would keep the clear view of ongoing processes by learning the past.

Since 1999 I have been working in the field of monumental sculpture. I am attracted by the appearance and opportunities of durable materials. They correlate with my inner intention to create artwork which can stand time and mindset changes. Working on the project I concentrate on two principal aspects: the way sculpture contacts with the viewer, especially the most attentive and sensible - with the child, and the way it interacts with the surrounding space. Looking for new approaches to the monumental sculpture I have returned to the experiments with the easel sculpture. That is how I reopen vastness of expressive metaphors and sincerity of personal artistic language.
