About The Artwork

Influenced by the oceans, this small series used repurposed plastics that are melted, shaped, cut and reformed into abstract organic shapes. The series starts out by creating hundreds of small pieces, which are then grouped, arranged and glued into place. Then the plastics are painted and coated with resin in layers until they have formed into small one of a kind pieces. These pieces can be hung alone or as a group.

ARTIST STATEMENT The randomness of intercepting waste and the significance of collected objects as a result of casual human interaction is utilized within my work. Objects easily present themselves in abundance and as they were meant to be found. The objects are typically insignificant and at the end of their life. While holding onto their past and present meaning the items are simultaneously entangled with the future. Collected items are sorted and arranged until one sparks inspiration. From here the objects are cut, painted, configured, glued, tied or melted. This process results in mixed media works full of color, energy and controlled randomness. ABOUT ME
